7on7 football — also written 7v7 — is a fast, non-contact version of American football played seven-a-side. There are no linemen, no pads, and no tackling. Every snap is a pass. Strip football down to its skill positions and what's left is pure speed, route-running, coverage, and decision-making — which is exactly why college recruiters and NFL scouts treat 7on7 film as essential evaluation.

Pylon has been running national 7on7 football tournaments since 2006 — before the format was a national phenomenon. Two decades later, the results speak: 500+ NFL alumni, 90+ first-round picks, and nine Heisman Trophy winners came through Pylon fields on their way up.

Why 7on7 Produces College & NFL Talent

With no line play, quarterbacks read coverage on every snap, receivers win with routes instead of screens, and defensive backs cover in space with no pass rush to bail them out. Reps come at triple the rate of a padded practice. That volume — hundreds of meaningful passing reps per tournament weekend, in front of rankings cameras and college coaches — is why the best skill players in every recruiting class play tournament 7v7 in the offseason.

The proof is in the draft record. Pylon alumni include nine Heisman Trophy winners — Lamar Jackson, Kyler Murray, Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Travis Hunter among them — and first-round picks in fourteen straight NFL Drafts, including the #1 overall pick in 2026.

The Pylon 7on7 National Championship

The Pylon tour runs January through May across five territories — Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, South Central, and West — with regional winners and at-large qualifiers converging at the National Championship. Divisions run from 10U through high school, with a dedicated Girls Flag circuit and 117,904 registered athletes since 2022.

7on7 vs 7v7 — Same Game

You'll see both spellings everywhere, and they mean the same thing: seven-a-side, passing-only, non-contact football. Whichever you call it, the best version of it has run through Pylon since 2006.
