2022 – CB – Will Johnson – Gross Pointe South HS, MI – 6’3 /190

247 Rank:  National - 8 / CB - 4 / MI – 1

Commitment – Un-Decided

Name/Location/Date/Time of film for evaluation –  Junior SZN highlights (6 Games)–Hudl – 11/16/20 – 7m 10sec

Physical Attributes –  Will has all the physical attributes you look for in an athlete.  Especially at CB.  He is tall and long with thick lowers.  He is a twitchy athlete even though he has long levers.  Has great reaction skills.  He can run.  He can put his foot in the ground and change direction.  Will can jump and shows great balance and body control.  He is an elite athlete.

Position Specific Skills –  Evaluating Will at CB will do him an injustice because he has the position specific skills to play multiple positions.  At CB he shows the ability to play the deep ball, using his long levers and speed to make plays.  He can play both man and zone concepts at an elite level.  He has excellent feet and exhibits the ability to change direction, even at his height and length, which is rare.   His balance and body control are above average.  When you add in his ability to run with great burst you now have a player that is elite.  His fluidness shows him doing things with ease that most players struggle with, especially at his height and with his length. He is a very instinctive player, on both sides of the ball that goes 100% on every play.  He has great hands and can go up an win the one on one balls.  His toughness shows on film.  A willing tackler that does not shy away from contact.  To be a finesse guy that is a fluid athlete is also rare to find.

Overall –  What is there not to like about Will Johnson.  A 2-Way player that plays at a high level no matter what position they put him at.  He plays QB, WR & CB.  A true athlete who possesses the size, athleticism, speed, fluidness and field awareness you look for.  Will, will be a productive, elite player at the power 5 level.  He does so many things well I am not sure what he will be in 3 years, but I can tell you no matter what position he ends up at, he will have the opportunity to be a professional player if he works hard, develops his crafts and continues to develop his physical, god given skills.   He exhibits all the tools, including toughness and field smarts to make a huge impact on every game he plays in.  Will has a high, high ceiling.
