Physical Attributes – Matthew has solid height and has some thickness to his frame. Shows decent twitch, feet, balance and body control. Has solid burst and acceleration on his get off and shows good play speed but is not a burner. Not overly dynamic with the ball in his hands but is productive with his big catch radius and his ability to get over the top of smaller defenders.
Position Specific Skills – Matthew has quick feet on his get off with good balance and body control. Solid burst and acceleration into his route. Not overly elusive but uses his longer, thicker frame to out man smaller defenders. He shows good play speed but not elite play speed. Can be a red zone threat with his size and length. Needs to work on dropping weight and bursting out of cuts. Not muc blocking on exposure but has the body to do so.
Overall – Matthew is a possession WR that relies on his quick feet and a good get off to create separation. He is a natural catcher with good play speed. Not an elite runner but fast enough to make plays over your head as he creates separation with his long strides. Not overly dynamic with the ball in his hands after catch, Matthew is a solid, instinctive, productive WR.
