Physical Attributes – Excellent height and length. Extremely thick lowers, a powerful body. He has great balance and body control and shows he can be light on his feet. A twitchy athlete who can change direction. He has good burst and acceleration, play speed and runs with that forward lean. He is very athletic for his size with good hands.
Position Specific Skills – I have listed and evaluated Amari as an athlete because I am not fully sure what he is going to be. I will spread out his athleticism and skills for multiple positions. Amaris shows great initial quickness for size with excellent burst and acceleration along with good play speed. He has excellent balance and body control, can drop his weight, can change direction and can make people miss. He has the frame and physicalness to block or tackle. He is a very instinctive player that is productive on both sides of the ball.
Overall – Amari is a unique athlete. He is built like a LB/Movement TE (Aaron Hernandez type body and skills) but shows he has twitch, great balance and body control and is light on his feet and can play WR at a high level. He runs with a forward lean and can get vertical. After the catch he can stop on a dime and change direction and make people miss. He has good hands and is very athletic. An instinctive football player who has the size to grow into a really good power 5 player. I think Maryland got a good one here. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him as a LB/TE in the future or a big, athletic WR that can run.
